What is the TVET Initiative? The Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Initiative is a flagship program of the Federal Ministry of Education designed to equip young Nigerians with practical skills for employment and entrepreneurship.

Through partnerships with certified training centers across the country, the initiative offers tuition-free training, monthly stipends, and start-up support for selected trades in high-demand sectors.

The TVET Initiative offers two flexible training options to suit your background and goals:

Short-Term Certificate (STC) Programme

Duration: 6 months

Ideal For: First-time trainees, school leavers, or individuals with no formal education background

Entry Requirements:

✅ Valid National Identification Number (NIN)

✅ Valid Bank Verification Number (BVN)

No prior educational qualification required. This track is designed for individuals ready to learn a practical skill and enter the workforce quickly.

Vocational Education & Innovation (VEI) Programme

Duration: 1 year

Ideal For: Individuals with some education or informal training experience, looking to deepen and formalize their skills.

Entry Requirements (any of the following):

✅ Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) – proof of skills acquired informally or through apprenticeship

OR

✅ First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC)

OR

✅ Any form of non-formal education certificate (e.g., training from NGOs, religious institutions, nomadic education or community programs)
