Entertainment: Chris Brown Arrested in UK Over Alleged Nightclub Bottle Attack

Chris Brown arrested

R&B singer Chris Brown was arrested in Manchester, England, early Thursday morning in connection with an alleged assault at a London nightclub in February 2023. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that the 36-year-old artist was taken into custody at The Lowry Hotel on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

The arrest stems from an incident at Tape London nightclub in Hanover Square, where music producer Abe Diaw claims Brown struck him over the head with a bottle of Don Julio 1942 tequila. Diaw alleges that after being hit, he was knocked unconscious and subsequently stomped and kicked by Brown, resulting in head lacerations and torn leg ligaments. He was hospitalized for his injuries and has since filed a $16 million civil lawsuit against the singer.

Diaw, who has known Brown for over seven years, stated that he initially believed Brown was approaching him for a hug before the alleged attack occurred. He also claims that surveillance footage of the incident exists and has been provided to authorities.

Brown's legal troubles have been well-documented over the years. In 2009, he pleaded guilty to felony assault for an incident involving then-girlfriend Rihanna. He has also faced multiple allegations of violence and legal issues, including a restraining order filed by ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran in 2017.

The singer had recently arrived in the UK ahead of his "Breezy Bowl XX" tour, celebrating his 20-year career anniversary. The tour includes performances across Europe and the United States, with artists like Summer Walker
